Tsukuba Space Center (JAXA)

It is one of the bases of the National Research and Development Agency "JAXA" and is the largest space development facility in Japan. It operates Japanese experimental facilities that are part of the International Space Station as well as artificial satellites from the ground and conducts research and development of technologies related to space activities. There is also a free observation facility where you can see, feel, and learn about all of this.
Mt. Tsukuba and Tsukuba-san Shrine

Mount Tsukuba stands at 2,877 feet above sea level and features two peaks as well as a cable car and hiking trails that offer views of Tokyo and Mount Fuji. From the Tsukuba Cablecar, you can see seasonal flowers and plants, especially in autumn it is a great spot to see autumn leaves. The view from the summit is also wonderful and you can see Tokyo Skytree in the distance.
Tsukuba-san Shrine is an ancient shrine that continues to practice mountain worship, worshipping the sacred mountain Mount Tsukuba as its deity for approximately 3,000 years. There are two main shrines, one on each of the summits of Mount Nantai and Mount Nyotai.
Tsukuba Botanical Garden

Tsukuba Experimental Botanical Garden is a botanical garden filled with lush greenery and nature that spreads out at the southern foot of Mount Tsukuba, commonly known as Tsukuba Botanical Garden. It is a research institute established by the National Museum of Nature and Science to promote plant research and to "learn, protect, and communicate plant diversity."
Geological Museum in AIST Tsukuba campus

The Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ), the national center for geological surveys, has been conducting geological surveys for over 140 years. The museum, which stores and exhibits the geological samples collected during the surveys, is the largest and only museum in Japan and is unparalleled anywhere in the world specializing in earth sciences.
Asakusa area (Approximately 40 minutes by TX train from Tsukuba Station)
The most famous one is of course Sensoji Temple.
After passing through Kaminarimon and walking along the approach to SensÅ-ji Temple, there is a shopping street called Nakamise which you can't help to visit.
Sensoji Temple was founded in 645, the oldest temple in Tokyo, and was dedicated to the Buddhist goddess of mercy.
Akihabara area (Approximately 50 minutes by TX train from Tsukuba Station)
There are Usagiya, one of the three largest Dorayaki shops in Tokyo; Yodobashi Multimedia Akihabara, a flagship store selling everything from home appliances to toys; Yushima Seido, a temple of Confucius built by Tokugawa Tsunayoshi; shopping malls and office tenants such as in "Ochanomizu Sola City" and "Akihabara UDX" right in front of the station.
